Oeric
February 17th, AS 41 (2007)
Feast of the Seven Deadly Sins
Barony of Delftwood

Here follows the report of the final Court of His Excellency, Oeric Lestrange, Baron of Delftwood. Court held on the 17th day of February, A.S. XLI (2007) at the Feast of the Seven Deadly Sins. Alheydis von Körckhingen, reporting herald.

His Excellency called forth Lady Gillian McGill de Verona. In her absence, Lady Juliana Stafford came forward to represent her. His Excellency spoke enthusiastically of Lady Gillian's skills in the arts and sciences, and commended, to Her Majesty, Lady Gillian's exquisite bead work. In recognition thereof, Lady Gillian McGill de Verona was made a Companion of the Order of the Capstan. Scroll wording by Lady Juliana  Stafford and Lady Fenris McGill, with scroll to follow.

His Excellency was then distracted by one of his minions, Façade, who reported to him that a certain cage has been opened. His Excellency expressed due concern that his grandmother had climbed upon the roof, but proceeded with his business of state.

His Excellency welcomed Lord Óláfr Þorvarðarson and spoke admiringly of Lord Óláfr's rise as a heavy weapons fighter, noting especially his current status as Baronial Champion and Knight Marshall. In recognition thereof, Lord Óláfr Þorvarðarson was made a Companion of the Order of the Millguard. Scroll wording, calligraphy and illumination by THLady Alheydis von Körckhingen

His Excellency was once again distracted from his duties by a minion, Guise, who warned of further urgencies at His Excellency's estates regarding his bird having flown the coop. His Excellency expressed concern that his grandmother had fallen off the roof.  Despite this dire news, His Excellency proceeded in his duties.

His Excellency then spoke warmly of one not present, Master Don Lyev Davidovitch, and told  of Master Lyev's numerous acts of service to the Barony, and especially to His Excellency during his illness at Pennsic Wars. His Excellency then made Master Don Lyev Davidovitch a citizen of Delftwood, and inducted him into the Order of the Windmill. Scroll wording by Alheydis von Körckhingen with scroll to follow by the collaboration of the scribes of Delftwood.

His Excellency received Edward Harbinger, who presented unto His Excellency a set of dominoes, contained within a leather box, embossed with the badge of House Gold Scorpion, made by Edward's own hand. His Excellency gave thanks to Edward, and informed the latter that he, too, had business with him. Speaking enthusiastically of Edward's activities in expanding the ranks of Delftwood archers, and of his many services to the barony, His Excellency made Edward Harbinger a Companion of the Order of the Mistral. Scroll in etched glass and stained award badge by His Excellency, Baron Artemius Andreas Magnus

His Excellency was, for a third time, interrupted from his business by a message from one of his minions, Candor, with dire news about a homing pigeon. His Excellency, taking this as yet another indication of his grandmother's exploits, continued with court.

His Excellency presented unto each gentle of Delftwood, and to all visitors who desired to have one, a token of his tenure, being a leather roundel bearing a gold scorpion and the years of His Excellency Investiture and Divestiture, made by the hands of Lady Anastasie de Lamoure and Lord Edward Harbinger.

His Excellency then indicated to the populace how a baron's coronet was most stable when inverted and rested upon it's six pearls. He then spoke of the necessity, to a person of his duty and station, of the support and assistance of many persons, and of his desire to gift unto six persons and groups, who had served him especially, tokens of his gratitude and esteem. His Excellency then gifted pearls unto The Honorable Lady Aheydis von Körckhingen and the members of Manor de Blair; Anastasie de Lamoure and Edward Harbinger; his collected minions, Façade, Guise, Candor, Apathy, Mystique; Mistress Giulietta da Venezia; and the populace of Angels Keep.

His Excellency was then interrupted by a fourth minion, Apathy, who unfortunately could not remember the nature of his missive. As a round of charades was begun to aid in withdrawing the report from the minion, His Excellency's court was intruded upon by none other than Justine Lymner being chased by a fifth minion, Mystique, who was crippled when Justine winged her. Having been denied the attentions of His Excellency for three full years, Justine was most eager to vent her ire at His Excellency. Matters were somewhat settled when His Excellency's minion, Apathy, produced from the pocket of his codpiece a letter that he had failed to deliver to Justine from His Excellency. Having learned that His Excellency had indeed attempted communication in his absence, Justine was, for the time, placated. As a token for her patience during his absence, His Excellency presented to Justine the sixth and final pearl.

The minions then presented a gift to His Excellency consisting of a scorpion flame thrower and a version of the game "Clue," with some slight modifications to the rules.

His Excellency then received Anastasie de Lamoure, who presented a collection of works from the hands of the artisans of Delftwood and Angels Keep, including a memory book from the hand of Lady Gwehwyvar Morwyn, into which His Excellency was charged the task of setting his memoirs.

There being no further business before His Excellency, his court was closed.
